Si pensa a tre settori in particolare: le infrastrutture, tra cui specialmente trasporti, energia e telecomunicazioni; l’ambiente, per il quale l’adeguamento alle norme comunitarie esigerà investimenti enormi; e infine l’investimento estero diretto, che è una leva particolarmente efficace nel processo di adeguamento dei paesi candidati alle condizioni degli attuali Stati membri.
Three areas in particular are targeted: infrastructures, with particular regard to transport, energy and telecommunications; the environment, because tremendous investment is needed in order to achieve compliance with Community standards; and, lastly, direct foreign investment, because it is a particularly powerful tool in bringing conditions in the candidate countries into line with those in the current Member States.
